Walmart grants YFS $30,000 to Eat Smart

Youth & Family Services has been granted $30,000 through the Walmart Eat Smart State Giving program. This funding will help provide children in YFS programs with healthier food options, including more servings of fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains with meals and snacks. The funding will also help provide ethnic food choices and other interesting food experiences and opportunities.

The Walmart Eat Smart grant will also enable the YFS Nutrition program to avoid using processed foods, which are typically less expensive than fresh ingredients.

The YFS Nutrition program serves more than 1 million meals and snacks annually through its onsite locations in Rapid City, and outreach programs across western South Dakota. The YFS Nutrition program also provides families with nutrition education and healthy lifestyle training in an effort to educate families on combating childhood obesity.

We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to Walmart for all of their wonderful support!
