Stronger Family Program

Life doesn't come with a manual, and relationships are critical to one's overall well-being. Youth & Family Services' Stronger Family Program can offer a "road map" for building stronger relationships with your significant other, your parents, children, friends, and even co-workers. This can lead to increased happiness, as well as family, community, and financial stability.

Our Goal

The overall goal of the Stronger Family Program is to strengthen marriages and healthy relationships and improve employment and economic mobility opportunities. We do this by providing curriculum, strategies, and activities related to healthy marriage and relationship education, parenting, and job and career advancement.

Relationship Education

Our healthy relationships classes for adults use the Active Relationships for Adults Curriculum, and classes are hosted at YFS and other community sites. Topics covered for all classes include: communication skills, money management, managing emotions, conflict resolution, making wise choices, setting life goals, and more.

These services are supported by a HEART grant from the Administration for Children and Families.

Family Support

Support Coaches act as mentors, help families access needed resources within their community, reinforce concepts learned in classes, and support participants in setting and achieving goals for a better life.

Economic Mobility

Family Support Coaches help families and individuals strengthen their economic situation through individual skill building, mentoring, and referral to employment assistance services. Coaches also work with clients to improve attitudes toward work and the job search process.

Love and Logic Parenting Classes

YFS' Stronger Family Program is a facilitator of Love and Logic® parenting courses. This is a six-week long course that provides a variety of simple and effective strategies for parenting children from birth to adulthood. Whether you’re embarking for the first time with your new baby or navigating the turbulent teens with your child, our strategies and techniques will help you increase your confidence as a parent and create calm and loving solutions!

Anger Management Classes

Anger can be productive or destructive. Many social movements were fueled by productive anger, but destructive conflict often results from anger that is out of control. When anger is left uncontrolled, relationships, businesses, and children can suffer. This class is designed to help you begin the process of learning to channel productive anger and control destructive anger. It is completed in ten 1.5-hour sessions, which typically meet once a week.

All services are provided free of charge and are not income-based.
