Head Start®


YFS Home-Based Head Start provides no-cost parent- focused, developmentally appropriate preschool programming to children in Custer, Fall River, Haakon, Jackson, Lawrence, Meade and Pennington Counties in South Dakota.

YFS' Middle School Program was designed with help from area youth to be a fun, safe, and engaging space for middle school youth.

Nutrition

YFS Nutrition Services provides healthy meals and snacks to children in YFS programming, through the summer nutrition program and in conjunction with local child care providers.

YFS Rapid City Head Start offers no-cost, parent focused preschool programming to provide children with social interactions and school readiness activities that are developmentally appropriate, fun and prepare children for school.

Western Prevention
Resource Center


This program assists students, parents, educators, community groups, social service and mental health agencies, chemical dependency service providers and law enforcement personnel in developing and implementing prevention programs in western South Dakota.
